At the historic
Houdini Estate, Emma and Alan wed in a stunning dark and romantic ceremony. This couple shows us a perfect example of what it means to truly be yourself on your wedding day. Colorful, opulent, and yes, maybe just a touch macabre, but most importantly, this wedding is exactly what Emma and Alan wanted!
Emma came to us with a bold vision in mind. She wanted something that captured her personal style, and something that expressed her creative side. Good thing she came to us, because the
Raven gown couldn't have been a better match for this gothic bride! Raven is finely embroidered with pink and red florals on sheer black tulle. This gown is romantic and dark - a duo you rarely see, especially in typical wedding dresses, but if you've been following my work, you'll know I love a moody, mysterious twist every now and then! With sparkling embroidery, pearl silk, and an epic train, there's a reason this gown has been a long time favorite from my Dutch Masters inspired Still Life Collection.
Emma chose the gorgeous
Flora veil to pair with her gown, but of course we customized it to perfectly compliment her gown! Black tulle with delicate silver embroidery along the waterfall shape really made a gorgeous finishing touch. We customize veils and gowns all day every day for our brides, so don't hesitate to ask! More than likely, we can make your unique vision come to life.
There were so many beautiful details from this wedding captured by
Nemus Photography, where do I begin?! First off, the location itself, the Houdini Estate, provided the perfect canvas for this couple's vision to come to life; grand walkways, towering trees, and of course... magic! What more could you want? And the florals by
Sweet Peas Flower Shop added a dramatic jewel tone element that really tied everything together.
So Smitten Events planned such a gorgeous day for these two.
As you envision how you want to feel on your wedding day, really think about who you are. What makes you feel most like yourself? Maybe it's wearing a bold, black wedding gown like Emma, or maybe it's wearing a light and airy gown adorned with butterflies! Whatever it may be, there is no "right" way to be a bride, as long as you feel like yourself. Emma, when I designed Raven many years ago, I dreamed of a bride like you. Congratulations to this happy couple!

Beautiful pictures! Our daughter wore Claire Pettibone at her wedding in Ouray, Colorado in 2019. She looked radiant! I love your dark dress. And you look radiant, too!
