A Romantic Juliet Veil Meets The Gentlemen

The Boho Veil Takes on a New Role

I spent the long weekend binge-watching Season 2 of The Gentlemen, and what a ride! I've known for about a year that our Boho Veil would be appearing in the Netflix production, but seeing Benedetta Porcaroli as Bella looking absolutely stunning as she pledged her love to Theo James' character Eddie was such a thrill. And for anyone worried about spoilers, trust me, there's much more to this season!

Designing Bella’s Bespoke Wedding Veil for The Gentlemen

Costume designer Loulou Bontemps reached out to us while the season was in pre-production, looking for the perfect vintage veil for Bella. Classic Italian old-world romance was what she envisioned, and so we created a bespoke, cathedral length version of my Boho Veil, a romantic design of delicate embroidered tulle that frames the face with Guipure lace and trails into a dramatic, ethereal train. Of course, when a style leaves the atelier for a film or television production, you never quite know how it will end up. Seeing the Boho Veil become part of such a memorable wedding scene, worn by Bella alongside Theo James as Eddie, was a wonderful surprise, and it was so perfectly suited for her!

The Romance of the Juliet Cap Veil

Originally created for my Romantique collection in 2014, the Boho Veil has certainly stood the test of time. With Juliet cap veils making a comeback, brides are still seeking out this vintage beauty more than a decade later. I've always loved this face-framing style. If brings all attention to the bride's face, and although it's beginnings can be traced back to the 16th century, with a resurgence in the 1920's, it somehow feels very modern.

Bridal Stule: How a Lace Veil Tells a Story

There is something particularly magical about seeing a piece I've designed take on another life through costume, just as it does for every bride. A veil carries so much emotion, mystery and romance, and depending on the gown, the styling, and the bride herself, it tells an entirely new story.

The Boho Veil has long been a favorite with our brides, and now, twelve years after her debut, this style has found a rather glamourous new chapter as part of Bella's story in The Gentlemen. I couldn't imagine a more perfect setting for a veil with a little romance, mystery and drama of her own. Thank you to Loulou and the costume team for choosing a touch of Claire Pettibone romance for Bella's wedding day.
The Gentlemen Season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
