Under an endless canopy of trees and waterfalls at the gorgeous
Calamigos Ranch, our lovely bride Kristen and fiancé Sam tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on March 21st, 2021. One of our first (sort of) post-Covid weddings, this elegant and intimate gathering shows the beauty of keeping wedding details simple.
Stetten Wilson captured the day perfectly, and I'm so happy to share this sweet couple with you!
Kristen chose the stunning
Santa Monica gown for her Malibu hills woodland ceremony, and I just love how it pops against the beautiful greenery! This sheath style gown is made of super light weight embroidered tulle embellished with delicate scrolls and scallops and the tiniest sequins to shimmer in the dappled sunlight. Adorned with delicate lace straps and a sheer back, this gown is perfect for a spring or summer wedding. This classic boho gown was paired with white roses and crisp green foliage from
Vibe Florals, adding a refined elegance to the entire look. Our bride was Malibu-relaxed, yet matched her more formal wedding elements executed beautifully by
In the Details. I like to refer to this blend of styles as boho-luxe.
Kristen wanted a veil that would match perfectly with her wedding gown, so that's what we gave her! We used the same floral Guipure lace trim that adorns the
Santa Monica gown around the edge of this cathedral length ivory tulle veil, and voila...perfection! Making custom veils for our brides is something I love to do. And since everything is made in house, we're happy to talk about the endless customization possibilities; from classic cathedral, to embellished waterfall, to blushers and Juliet cap styles, we really can create just about anything your heart desires.
I love the simplicity of the backdrop and aisle for this couple's ceremony. Sometimes we can get carried away with adding loads of florals and decor (and don't get me wrong, that's beautiful too!), but remember the simple beauty and balance of nature is here for us to borrow for special times like these. I mean how can you beat a waterfall and a collage of trees as your background?!
I love this wedding because it demonstrates how keeping things simple can be beautiful, elegant, and likely more stress-free. If you want an extravagant wedding filled with all the fixin's, by all means, go for it! But if it all feels a bit overwhelming, and you'd rather keep things simple, remember that what it really comes down to, is the to of you. A gorgeous dress (of course!) a pretty setting with thoughtfully chosen details, and the love between the two of you will all add up to beautiful memories to cherish. Congratulations Kristen...it was a joy to dress you up!
