Backyard Wedding Inspiration

Before brides had every wedding venue at their fingertips, there were simple, backyard ceremonies with your closest family and friends. COVID-19 has many of our brides rethinking their 150+ guest lists, and opting for smaller, more intimate celebrations with their loved ones; I for one am a fan! Although everyone likes a big party, one thing this pandemic has brought to light, is how even a small event can still be celebrated in a big way when lots of love is involved. This shoot from Lexy Marie Weddings beautifully captures how you can still have a stunning gown and lush florals even for a backyard ceremony.

Just because your event is more intimate than you originally planned, doesn't mean you can't wear that gorgeous couture dress you've been dreaming about. This is still YOUR (and your partner's) day regardless of the setting; you deserve to feel special and beautiful. The Marie gown is one of those special couture pieces. With a French embroidered bodice and light as air cotton skirt, this gown was made for secret garden weddings like this one. The two tiered, French embroidered tulle sleeves add a vintage drama to the look while the trailing buttons down the back and gorgeous train add that classic bridal feeling. The florals by Evy Rose Design Co. transform the already gorgeous greenery of this flourishing backyard into a perfect ceremony site. The asymmetrical flower arch sprinkled with just a touch of eucalyptus and soft roses, create romance and new life that compliments the essence of the gorgeous Marie gown. The soft Vintage Vine embroidered veil adds another level of dreaminess to the look as well... Yes, you can still have a veil for a backyard wedding!

A few chic chairs? A delicious cake from Lekker and Co.? And a stunning bouquet? Looks like a no-stress, stunning wedding to me. I know how much you've planned and imagined all the details of this day, but know this: your wedding is about you and your partner. Yes, you imagined the full dance floor. Yes, you imagined hugging and chatting with your friends and family all night, but those things can wait. Remember why you're having this ceremony in the first place. When you look back on the photos that you and your honey will take of just the two of you, no-one will ever know what was happening in the world at the time. All they will see is two people... happy and in love...and when it's time for that big party, you can wear your beautiful dress again, and yes, there will be dancing!
