Adorned with Gold & Silver

Adorned with Gold & Silver

Does a wedding dress have to be white? Of course not! It's taken awhile, but after years of designing wedding dresses that incorporate color, I think the world has finally come around to the idea that a bride can wear whatever she chooses. My latest collection called "Adorned" was partly inspired by elements of jewelry, and as I was thinking about adorning our brides, I couldn't resist some metallic touches of gold and silver. As we get ready to ring in the holidays, here's to a touch of golden shimmer, some silver shine, and a toast of champagne. Made popular during the Victorian era, this jewelry detail inspired our Briolette gown and the custom Guipure lace trim that drapes down her open low back. I designed this intricate trim with ivory leaves, blush flowers and silver buds that dangle like little gems. I love the movement that is created by draping this lace down the open back. The silver thread pairs perfectly with this stunning French lace which has an Art Deco inspired motif of ivory and silver metallic stripes and florals ending in a deep scallop edge for a stunning sweep train. With fabrics so detailed, I kept the silhouette to a simple sheath. The perfect New Year's Eve dress, or for a bride who loves a bit of a Great Gatsby vibe with a modern twist...or an elevated beach wedding...the possibilities are endless!

Our custom Guipure lace drapes along the neckline just like a precious necklace on our Riviere wedding dress so of course, it made the perfect name for this dramatic gown. The elegant silver lace bodice is further adorned with dangling trim along the waist, the shoulders, and at the fingertips of the elaborate embroidered cuffs of these stunning tulle pouf sleeves. Finished with a sweeping silk charmeuse skirt and a flowing long train, this gown will make a dramatic statement. Since the dress already includes it's own necklace, all you need are some beautiful earrings (like these pretty florals from Erin Rhyne) and you're all set! I don't typically design ballgowns, maybe because when I started out in bridal, that's pretty much all there was, so I set out to offer something different. But every now and then, I'll give a little nod to this traditional silhouette and put my spin on it. Vermeil (pronounced ver-may) is composed of a thick layer of gold over solid sterling silver. Just as her namesake jewelry, this custom metallic floral embroidery gilds our Vermeil bridal gown in shades of silver, champagne and pale gold. The skirt is full and flowing with a crinoline underneath to give the silhouette a bit of volume, while the satin underlayer is body skimming. A defined waist, and a pretty off-the-shoulder illusion tulle give you the look of exposed shoulders with a bit more support. This dress is a beauty for the bride who longs for a bit of tradition with one-of-a-kind details.
