Shangri-La...yes, it's the name of this gorgeous gown from my Vagabond collection, but it's so much more than that. A word associated with paradise, utopia and all things beautiful... a place that's peaceful and hidden away. I don't know about you, but I've sure been longing for an escape from our current reality, but if we can't have one in real life, then here's a visual one for now, where couture faeries live, and every step is heavenly.
Amy Mulder Photography couldn't have chosen a better spot to capture this special gown. Shangri-La belongs in this natural element and invites all who wander into the secret forest. I love the way the sunlight peeks through the semi-sheer skirt, keeping the moment ethereal and dreamy. The way the tear drop trim dances along the rocky path, blending in with the forest floor... like golden seedlings sprouting in her footsteps.
The Shangri-La gown was designed with French fuchsia and aqua embroidery layered over metallic gold lace. The waist is embellished with gold guipure lace applique, while the embroidered fabric trails up the illusion neckline, drawing the eyes up to our bride's beautiful face. The illusion back, one of my signatures, features more of these unique florals and lays gently against the shoulder blades creating a one of a kind piece of art.
The headpiece by Twigs and Honey is the perfect addition to this forest queen ensemble, complimenting the golden leaves in the intricate gown. I also love the bride's makeup by Katie Gurley Artistry who kept it simple and dewy... perfect for a forest sprite. 
We may never experience the magic of a rainforest, but we can always find our Shangri-La in other moments of life; our true utopia comes from within. All we need to do is focus on what makes us truly happy, and welcome the good that surrounds us with open arms.
