Outdoor weddings often lean towards a casual, rustic style, but Tina and Jerry's gorgeous San Ysidro wedding was a bit more formal. From the rose gold color scheme, lush decor and flowers, to our vintage inspired Pearle gown setting the tone for this black tie outdoor wedding...it was truly a dream!
I'll never forget the day Tina and her daughter Daniela came into our Los Angeles atelier. Tina had a specific vision in mind for her wedding look, and when she tried on our Pearle gown, that was it...along with some gorgeous customizations to make it one-of-a-kind. Tina and I talked about her vision for her wedding dress so that I could create this custom version of Pearle that emulates a timeless beauty and perfectly captures Tina's elegance and style.
This long sleeved lace beauty is a Victorian dream with a modern silhouette. The lavishly embroidered net tulle is covered in tiny seed pearls with hints of rose gold metallic threads that highlight the floral lace motif. The neckline is both modest and sexy, and Tina was able to have it both ways with the front buttons fastened for the ceremony and later opened a bit for the reception. This is one of my favorite fabrics that I have designed, so when Tina asked for a little more drama, I was thrilled to create a scalloped edge overskirt which flowed into a dramatic long train. We had multiple fittings to get all of the details just right, and I think you'll agree, our bride looks amazing!
Tina's inspiration for her gown bloomed from Grace Kelly's timeless wedding look. The silk covered buttons, the high lace collar, the waist detail...I wanted this custom gown to be unique to Tina, while also melding my aesthetic with the inspiration of the iconic gown.
Although I typically don't design voluminous veils, Tina wanted something with a little height to add to the vintage drama of the whole look. We added silk velvet roses on the veil's comb to give a little more lift and voila, this one of a kind beauty came to life. Embellished with our Casablanca beading, her veil has a blusher and a cascading waterfall silhouette that trails past the long train of her gown.
To finalize the look, we styled Tina with a stunning Twigs and Honey hair piece and her daughter with a custom french velvet embroidered capelet to continue with the blush, rose and gold color scheme. Jerry is one lucky guy to have these two beautiful women in his life!
If you're looking for enchanted wedding inspiration, Tina and Jerry's decor will not disappoint. The soft florals by Toast Santa Barbara, elegant tablescape , and whimsical cake by Julie Simon Cakes are straight out of a story book. The cake even included tiny pearls and "lace" flowers to replicate the embroidery of Tina's gown... I'm obsessed! The wedding was photographed by one of the world's top wedding photographers, and close friend of mine, Elizabeth Messina. Inside Weddings has a full feature of all the beauty in their Summer 2020 issue on stands now.
These two are clearly so happy and in love and we couldn't be more thrilled for them! It was a pleasure working with Tina and I feel so lucky we were able to help bring her wedding gown vision to life. Wishing these two a lifetime of love and happiness!
