A beautiful bride came to our Trunk Show this weekend to purchase her dream gown, Kristene. She pulled out the most amazing vintage shoes to show me, and I freaked out! I hope I didn’t scare her (I don’t think so, she ordered the gown!) but they are just too special, I couldn’t’ contain myself! Hand embroidered and entirely encrusted with tiny seed beads…even tiny sprays of flower and leaf on the back of the heels! She found them on Etsy, in mint condition, and a perfect fit…what are the odds?! Well, I see a lot of beautiful shoes from our brides, but these are a true treasure!
I think part of my excitement, is that I just introduced my new “Windsor Rose China” collection, which is inspired by my grandmother, who used to make just these sorts of precious heirlooms. It’s kind of uncanny how the embroidery on these shoes so perfectly matches the vintage jacquard waistband on Waverly. I have just now come out of my creative cocoon having put that collection together, and to have it literally walk in the door was so amazing!
It is the little things, the unexpected surprises in life that are sometimes what slay us, aren’t they? The obvious, big things are wonderful, but sometimes the small, special, and truly personal gifts and moments are the ones that mean the most. Sometimes I see a bride have such an emotional response to one of my gowns…maybe it reminds her of someone dear who is no longer with us, maybe it’s a childhood memory that she doesn’t even recall, but somewhere in her soul, the gown whispers to her…
Who knows why we love the things we do, but it sure makes life delightful!

We just love these photos of our lovely bride Jamie rocking the Orange Blossom gown at the Colony Palms in Palm Springs. Beautiful girl, beautiful dress, beautiful setting – what more could you ask for!
From the bride…
“my dress might have been one of the elements that made our wedding so memorable. Made by Claire Pettibone, I purchased it at a trunk show, and Claire herself was there to fit the dress on me. It was so special to have the designer present, who customized the neckline for me and truly made her “Orange Blossom” wedding gown, into “Jamie’s Orange Blossom” wedding gown.
I know I may be a bit biased, but I really have the best brides! Smart, interesting, gorgeous women you want to be friends with. It’s a joy to help them select the gown that flatters in the best possible way, and also captures the essence of who they are, and celebrates this amazing love they have found. Thank you to all our wonderful brides-to-be who visited our Flagship Salon Trunk Show this weekend, it was such a pleasure getting to know you all! To make our weekend even more special, some fabulous local vendors joined in the fun!
Peony and Plum created these sweet and lovely glass bud vases wrapped in an assortment of fabrics and laces. A simple way to add lots of charm. As for the bridal bouquet, take your pick of pinks and deep plums, or perhaps ivory and gold, an unexpected combination of formality and rambling cascades keeps it relaxed and lovely as a French garden.
Beautiful and de-licious mini bite-sized treats from Cupcakes Couture MB pack all the punch of the full sized, but allow you to try every flavor! My personal fav has to be 24K Ginger, but the Strawberry Shortcake was probably the crowd pleaser! Everyone agreed, they were ALL worth the calories! And the floral full size cupcakes (works of art), will rival any cake and make a truly breath-taking display.
What a great concept: do good while gettin’ your party on! One Hope Wine offers a fabulous way to entertain your guests with a selection of wonderful California wines with a portion of sales donated to your favorite charity…truly a guilt-free way to celebrate!
After a lovely conversation and a few sniffs and tests, Ka-mil-yin nailed it! I wanted a scent to capture the essence of my Beau Monde collection…imagine strolling through a rambling garden in the French countryside…that feeling of decadent relaxation takes over, the orange blossoms and lavender are wafting on the warm breeze, and we’re having a glass of wine at four o’clock in the afternoon…ahhh, life is good!

NEXT WEEKEND March 2nd & 3rd!
As some of you may have noticed, I’ve been spending a bit more time at my Flagship Salon lately…training the lovely Erica, doing a bit of sprucing up, and keeping in touch with my ever-amazing, gorgeous brides!
The first weekend in March we’re all in for an extra special treat…make that treats!!! It’s Trunk Show time, so yes, the entire collection will be here, but to add even more loveliness, we have beautiful flowers, scrumptious sweets, and custom scents! I’m putting the finishing touches on our signature Beau Monde fragrance that you will all receive, along with the opportunity to design your own! Plus, we just had One Hope Wine say they want to join us with sparkling wine for all, so now we can really get our party started!
Appointments are booking fast for Friday and Saturday, and we will open a Sunday wait list if needed, so please give us a call and enjoy some extra treats while you select your dream dress! 310-360-6268
It’s been a busy Trunk Show spring season, and we’re bringing it home to our Flagship May 6th – 7th. I’ll be styling and advising all of our lovelies, helping guide them to “the one” that perfectly enhances each individual’s beauty and grace, and speaks to her heart. I ADORE creating wedding gowns, and when I see how much joy my work brings to others, it really takes it to another level and makes my life as a designer that much sweeter. So, joining in all of this beauty and celebration, we have some AMAZING treats for our Beverly Hills girls!
I’ve been working with professional makeup artists for years on all of our advertising campaigns, and I have to say, Stephanie is one of the best. You really want to consider having a professional on duty for your big day…after all, you are the star of the show, and those pictures will last a lifetime, so you want to shine (but not SHINE!) and be the best version of you.
Did someone say cake?! If you are a sweet tooth like our Flagship Manager Cynthia and I, it’s always time for cake! The Cake Divas are spoiling us with treats and samples of their beautiful and mouth-watering work, so leave a little room, and get a taste of the masterpieces Joanie and Leigh can create for your special day.
And of course, what is a wedding without flowers? Peony and Plum, represented by The Bridal Bar, has festooned many of our brides with unique and gorgeous floral bouquets and décor. A true artist, Susan Tom-Nellis and her team create floral stories that perfectly compliment your gown and incorporate nature’s gifts into your wedding.
