From the West coast beaches, and the long, windy drive along Pacific Coast Highway to wine country and redwoods, it’s easy to see why the world is in a love affair with California. Designing this Romantique wedding dress collection, I was inspired by the diversity of my hometown, Los Angeles and the richness of the Golden State.
Laguna features stunning crochet cut-out lace with side slit sheer skirt, illusion back, and slight sweep train.
Carmel is made of cotton floral embroidery on a flowing net skirt with delicate tulle straps across the open back.
The City of Angels attracts beautiful people from across the globe, from every culture, searching for that ineffable dream. Growing up here was perhaps the perfect place for my own dreamer’s heart to find its way.

Monterey has a simple floral lace silhouette accented by an illusion lace bateau neckline and sheer illusion back.
Silverlake exudes that effortless beauty we all lust after…and the prettiest flutter sleeves.
Integral to the LA vibe, of course I had to give our beach babes and bohemian spirit equal time with crocheted laces, sexy backs, and sheer, red-carpet-ready accents. Legs, backs, and beach inspired details are perfect for a walk in the sand, or vows in a sun-dappled forest. Did someone say Big Sur? Or Ibiza? Or Morocco?
Yes, her name is Malibu. This cotton crochet lace with open low back, and scalloped lace chapel train had to be!
And of course, Coachella with her long boho sleeves, this side slit sheath of crochet lace with tassel tie open back might be my favorite.
Our city’s Spanish roots are evident not only in the names of many of our towns and streets, but in the rich tradition of Latina culture so befitting a beautiful bride. Embellished necklines, backs and sleeves convey a refined mood, and the embroideries and scalloped laces impart a touch of celebrity glamour.
Olvera Fiesta flowers adorn the fan motif lace with a low, open cross-back, and chapel train.
La Cienega has a graceful flowing skirt with scalloped lace hem and illusion bateau neckline with open keyhole back.
Palisades V-neck lace gown with gold silk ribbon waist with organza flowers, and cathedral length train…simply stunning.
Bel Air features elaborate embroidery with just a touch of sparkle, and look at that back!
Pasadena is the epitome of old-world elegance. Embroidered tulle long sleeves, illusion front and back, with a gorgeous cathedral length train.
Santa Monica is regal in her matching cape, with a “wow” fitted silhouette of embroidered tulle underneath.

Sunset on the beach, care-free in the breeze of a vineyard, or luxe lace mantilla style…take your pick. In California, anything goes.

After many, many requests from brides-to-be, we are so thrilled to be represented in New Zealand! Primrose and Finch, our lovely stockist, is hosting a Claire Pettibone Trunk Show this month, and the dresses are very excited to be making their way to this part of the world! In addition to the samples that are carried in the salon, we will be sending many of our most requested gowns for brides to see.
All of our dresses are made to order with exclusive couture fabrics, so keep in mind it takes about 3 to 6 months for your very own CP gown to be hand made in our Los Angeles atelier. During a Trunk Show, you will have a chance to see the entire collection up close and personal, have measurements taken by an expert fitter, and place an order with a complimentary customization.
Be sure to call for an appointment, as I hear slots are already quite booked up! The shop looks absolutely charming, and I can’t wait to feature future NZ brides here on the blog! Have a wonderful time girls, and enjoy the collection!

You know I love my outdoor, romantic garden, rustic ranch, dreamy under-the-petals, walking-through-the-meadows weddings…well, here’s a little trip to the dark side! Some of our UK friends decided to style a shoot with none of the usual “bridal” elements…no cake, no antique linens, no chandeliers hanging from an oak tree. I do love those things, but I have to say, these images featuring my Mystere gown are pretty hot, no?!
Nick Tucker: This shoot was very much a full blown collaboration with Hannah Gooch of The Ebury Collection. We wanted to create a darker, moodier, edgier, more overtly fashion shoot, than maybe your typical bridal stories. Bright, sunlit shots of model brides tripping along flowery pathways have become very familiar lately and we wanted to do something a little different. Not least because when I shoot weddings myself the brief is always really to capture the warm, light, radiance of the day (as of course it should be). So here was a great chance to go ‘off-trend’ and do something unusual, and have fun!
Hannah Gooch: I’ve worked on styled shoots before and wanted to try and create something completely different, with a moodier feel and much more editorial and fashiony. I’ve admired Nick Tuckers photography for some time so thought I’d approach himabout a collaboration and was delighted when he agreed!
The Mystere gown is part of my“Rock n Roll Bride” collection, so she is no stranger to a good party and some smudgy eyeliner. Of course, she also makes for the most romantic of weddings, but you all know that…

What a status update!
Saturday, May 19th was my daughter’s 5th Birthday, so we took her on her first visit to Disneyland. Out
all day, enjoying her delight meeting princesses, and all that wonderful 5 year-old-girl stuff, finished
up with the fireworks spectacular and crawled back to our hotel around 10:30pm. My husband Guy is
checking the day’s news on his phone while I am about to drift off…”HONEY! Mark Zuckerberg…the
Facebook guy” yeah? “He got married today, and the bride…the bride…the bride…” Yeah? WHAT?!!
“She’s wearing your gown, look!”
Yes, that is Sky Between the Branches, wow…..wow…..OMG WOW!!! Do you think my publicist is
awake? It’s Saturday night 11:30, I’m texting her! The news spread like wildfire, and since the Associated
Press broke the story, and no one had the designer info, they just said the bride wore “a traditional
white gown”. LOL, that’s the first time I’ve been called traditional!
Anyway, the word is out that yes, I designed her gown, and then we had to figure out where she bought
it. We ruled out our flagship, and the obvious next stop would be Marina Morrison who carries our
collection in San Francisco…no record of a Priscilla Chan. Then on to Kleinfeld in NY, finally we decide to
check every single order for Sky going back 12 months. Bingo! Bride’s name: Pricilla Taun, wedding date:
May 19th. That’s got to be her! Call Little White Dress in Denver, CO and yes, they remember her, it was
all kind of suspicious, she had an assistant handle everything and didn’t use her real name.
What a smart girl! Managed to marry one of the most famous billionaires on the planet, and still keep
her wedding private, genuine, and beautiful. That’s my girl! I am beyond thrilled she chose one of my
designs, and other than the billionaire thing, she really is quite typical of my brides. Smart, sophisticated,
knows what she wants, and not afraid to show her personal style. I think she looked amazing, and wish
the couple all the happiness in the world that money CAN’T buy. I think their choice to keep the wedding
low key and personal shows they have their hearts in the right place…AND he married his college
sweetheart who has been with him from the beginning…you’ve gotta “like” that!
NEXT WEEKEND March 2nd & 3rd!
As some of you may have noticed, I’ve been spending a bit more time at my Flagship Salon lately…training the lovely Erica, doing a bit of sprucing up, and keeping in touch with my ever-amazing, gorgeous brides!
The first weekend in March we’re all in for an extra special treat…make that treats!!! It’s Trunk Show time, so yes, the entire collection will be here, but to add even more loveliness, we have beautiful flowers, scrumptious sweets, and custom scents! I’m putting the finishing touches on our signature Beau Monde fragrance that you will all receive, along with the opportunity to design your own! Plus, we just had One Hope Wine say they want to join us with sparkling wine for all, so now we can really get our party started!
Appointments are booking fast for Friday and Saturday, and we will open a Sunday wait list if needed, so please give us a call and enjoy some extra treats while you select your dream dress! 310-360-6268
