Wedding Paper Divas approached me back in April of last year, and asked me to design a collection of wedding invitations. I’m thrilled to finally reveal this project that we have been sketching, painting and scripting over the last 6 months. When looking for inspiration, I often find it in paintings from some of the world’s master artists. What better place to start when composing my first wedding invitation suites for Wedding Paper Divas?!
Dramatic arrangements of flora and fauna set against a dramatic dark background exude a mysterious romanticism. “Still Life of flowers on a Marble Table” by Rachel Ruysch, displays the brilliance of nature’s beauty.
Everything I design is so romantic, but sometimes a bit of mystery, a touch of the dark, tempers the sweetness.
I really wanted to bring the still life painting to life. The bride dressed in delicate lace represents the lily which embodies purity and hope. The colors and elements surrounding her have meaning and symbolism of their own, and together, they tell a beautiful story.
In the second half of the 17th century, the art of the floral still-life reached the height of fashion. A stunning bouquet of white lilies and pink peonies alongside golden pomegranates – a symbol for prosperity, bring good fortune to our lucky couple.

I am so excited to share my Still Life Collection. It all started with a Dutch masterpiece “Still Life of Flowers on a Marble Table,” by Rachel Ruysch, 1716. In the second half of the 17th century, the art of the floral still-life reached the height of fashion. Dramatic arrangements of flora and fauna, insects and fruits, set against dramatic dark backgrounds exude a mysterious romanticism.
Graceful details adorn delicate silks and laces gilded in gold, glowing as if lit from within. The rich floral embroideries give the effect of a painting come to life, while a few artful butterflies flutter in. The brilliance of nature’s beauty is highlighted to dramatic effect, just as the bride becomes the center of our attention.
We invite you to be the first to view and try on the Still Life Collection during our Holiday Preview in Los Angeles, at the Castle, by appointment, December 6th and 7th.

The Still Life Collection will be arriving in salons early 2014. Take a sneak peek of the entire collection here, and we invite you to being scheduling appointments with our retailers to experience the gowns in person.
A note to our Flagship visitors:
I make every attempt to be here personally for events at The Castle, and so look forward to meeting our lovely brides during Trunk Shows, but my 6 year old daughter is performing in her first Nutcracker this same weekend, and I just can’t miss it! The artist Rachel Ruysch, who’s painting inspired this collection had 10(!) children and a very successful career throughout her lifetime (b.1664 d.1750). Obviously, I am following in a long line of women attempting to balance the joys of career and motherhood, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you for understanding and I can’t wait to see our first Still Life weddings in the new year!
