Our best at-home date was when we had first moved in to our new home. We had just gotten married, so we didn’t have very much. Our heat was broken, so we lay in front of the fire on our blow-up mattress and ordered pizza. We made up songs with my husband’s guitar about being poor and in love…and wishing the pizza guy gave us more pepperonis. We still love talking about this date night–how organic love can be.

We’ve been busy designing new styles for Fall-Resort 2009 in Bleu Clair, Butterflies, and Claire Pettibone Luxury Lingerie – all in time for Curve NY. With the expo in less than 2 weeks away, our design team are wrapping up some final touches and creating samples for the show. Between tight deadlines, I was able to put together a small preview of each of our lines. Lookbooks will be available for buyers at the show.

Butterflies are likely to appear in gardens, meadows and tropical locations. Even the hardest urban environments can be blessed with their color, whimsy and charm. They even surprised us on a recent visit to the Broad Contemporary Art Museum in Los Angeles (BCAM). Artist Damien Hirst, famous for his formaldehyde entombed animals, has used the colors and luminescence of thousands of butterflies for the two pieces on display “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” 2003 and “The Kingdom of the Father” 2007.

These works move us from the all to physical world of steel and stone, to a mystical place as you begin to realize the stain-glass windows you see from across the room are actually thousands of wings on display. Held at a private Brentwood estate, the celebs were out in full force on Saturday night at the exclusive Butterfly Ball. Over 600 guests — including executives and artists from film, television and music came together for a spectacular night in support of Chrysalis, a Los Angeles based organization that helps homeless men and women change their lives through jobs. read more »
