Yes, NYC! We’re so excited to be bringing the ENTIRE COUTURE AND ROMANTIQUE COLLECTIONS to NYC for 4 fabulous shopping days, February 4-7. Popping up shop at Weddington Way’s #LOVEPOPSHOP at 109 Mercer Street so that our New York brides will have the chance to order a Claire Pettibone gown.

The Couture Collection, including the brand new Gilded Age gowns, range from $3,600 to $10,000 with the majority in the $4,000 to $7,000 range. These dresses are all made in Los Angeles using the world’s finest laces, embroideries and silks. Since each gown is made to order, we can customize for a fuller bust or hip, add a sleeve, raise or lower a neckline, and accommodate many special requests. Just one of the perks of having a couture wedding gown made for you.

There are so many brides who love my aesthetic, but might not have the couture budget, so Romantique was created with this in mind. Made by our same in-house team, with less expensive, but still gorgeous fabrics, so brides can have their dream dress for under $3,000. We’ll have the entire Romantique selection in tow, as well!

A few things to remember when wedding dress shopping:

  1. Sample sizes are not necessarily YOUR size, so you’ll have to do some visualizing. We do have several samples in larger sizes, in addition to the industry standard size 10, so curvy girls are absolutely welcome, and we’ll be ready with clips, clamps, and helpful stylists to guide you through the process.
  1. If you bring a friend/sister/cousin/etc. with you, make sure this person is really your biggest fan. A joyful, positive confidant who will support your choices, and not project her own dreams (or even worse, resentments!) onto you!
  1. When attending a Trunk Show, come prepared to make a purchase. If you do find “the One” this is the perfect time to take advantage of special offers that only come with a Trunk Show. If someone else is involved in the final purchase, make sure you bring them along, or be ready to face-time, as this may be your only opportunity to show them a sample of your dress before the collection leaves for the next destination.
  1. Don’t try to be something that isn’t you, just because you’re a bride. Trends come and go, so find a dress that you truly love, and conveys your personality. My goal as a designer is to enhance your beauty, and there is nothing better than when a bride not only looks amazing, but has an emotional connection to her gown. Happy shopping, and we can’t wait to be a part of your beautiful wedding!

Musings New Looks: Less Is More

Sometimes less really is more. That’s how I feel about these light, airy images from a recent styled shoot by Kayla Barker. Like a breath of clean air, just pure, simple beauty. In the wedding world, it’s easy to get caught up in all of the details, from flowers to layers of décor, and don’t get me wrong, I love every adorned, swathed, beaded bit of it, but isn’t it nice sometimes to just focus on one thing? To appreciate a beautiful lace dress, or a pretty face without too much makeup, a perfect bridal bouquet, a clean, white-washed space with a simple chandelier.

It’s that time of year when we’re reminded to take a moment to be grateful, and I’m feeling especially thankful for some of the simple things. It might be something to keep in mind as you are planning a wedding as well. Even if you are going crazy with the details, try to at least pause long enough to enjoy each one! Maybe you don’t need every last thing on your wish list…maybe enough is more than enough. You are in love, family and friends will be celebrating with you…everything else is, as they say, icing on the cake.

Musings: Beyond the Beauty

When I am trying to make sense of senseless things, I find venturing outside helps open a space for peace …feeling the wind in my hair, and the spray of the vast ocean on my skin is like a soothing salve for the spirit. I suppose it is the vastness and majesty of this earth, the miracle that is this planet that holds life itself, unfolding ages before us, and continuing long after we are just a memory. Sometimes when things seem just too difficult to comprehend, nature is my salvation.

For me, these images by Katch Silva touch on this beauty and power. The contrast of light and dark, the ancient metaphor of the cave, and all of the pain, turmoil and growth that come from the dark mysteries of life, and then into the warm light of the fields, the soothing touch of an afternoon breeze, and a sense of freedom in the sunshine.

Finally, into the clear blue ocean, where all life began. A blue so blue and vast, that it makes whatever problem feel small and maybe not so overwhelming.

I know these are images of wedding gowns, and are meant to show the detail of the lace, the graceful curves of the imagined bride-to-be who will wear them, but perhaps because they also show the splendor of our earth, they take on a greater significance in my mind. In any case, thank you Katch for your beautiful work, and for revealing something beyond what the eye can see.
