Events: Accessories Trunk Show

February 24th, 2014 – Comment

Shoes, veils, jewelry, sashes…did I mention shoes?! We’re a little dress obsessed over here, but just like every girl in the world, a bride needs her accessories! So we’re dedicating an entire two days to decking you out. Actually, I’ve been spending WAY more than two days on it, preparing some beautiful new things to dress up your dress.

Every time I do a photo shoot, I’ll create some spur of the moment styling pieces. This time I brought along some lace, a jeweled piece here and there, and whipped up some breath-taking (if I do say so myself!) gloves. I just love how accessories bring a whole look together and really infuse an individual style. So, I have lots of new veils, sashes, and headpieces to reveal, along with two new exclusive and amazing collections from the UK.

First up, Lila has created the most amazing, hand-crafted floral wreaths exclusively for Claire Pettibone, and we are the only US stockist to offer these beauties! Made from clay-like material, they remain slightly supple (so as not to crack) and extremely light weight, and look as delicious as frosting! Hand painted either in the softest shades from nature, or with actual 24K gold leaf. Each petal is crafted by hand, so no two are exactly alike. A perfect alternative to fresh flowers, which can quickly wilt in the sun, and you’ll have this keepsake forever!

We are thrilled to welcome Emmy shoes to the castle with her stunning vintage inspired collection. I first discovered these lovelies on one of my favorite UK blogs, www.lovemydress.net and one thing led to another, and here she is! Not only are these shoes perfect for the bride, but they are so gorgeous you’ll wear them long after the big day. And don’t forget your bridesmaids, mothers, and of course yourself when you’re not a bride, but just being fabulous.

Here at our Flagship, we look forward to showing you all the loveliness, and helping you choose the dress, veil, jewels, shoes, or any combination of those for your special day. Receive a free gift with purchase (a little something for the honeymoon) and bring a friend! Appointments required for a fitting room if you would like to try on dresses…otherwise, feel free to stop in!

New Looks: Heart’s Desire

February 14th, 2014 – Comment

So much of my work is about the dream of romance, and I LOVE it! The fantasy and beauty are what inspire my soul and make life worth living. I was in a particularly enchanted frame of mind when I dreamt up this gown called Heart’s Desire. Draping this beautiful embroidery on my mannequin, I held the flower just so…and the rosebud gracefully fell across her heart. It made MY heart skip a little beat, as I couldn’t imagine a more romantic piece of clothing for a bride. I can just see the luscious bouquet, the gold wreath, the gorgeous décor that will be paired with this dress. And what a truly magical, breath-taking, unexpected way to show your devotion to the man you will marry, than to wear the symbol of eternal love on your heart.

New Looks: Claire Pettibone For Wedding Paper Divas | Vol. 3

February 12th, 2014 – Comment

The thing about ideas that I love most, is when seemingly unrelated things come together to inspire something new. This pattern for Embossed Porcelain invitations actually began with engraved crystal goblets from my personal collection. As we were working on the motif and laying out the colors, I thought, wouldn’t it be cool if it had that raised look of Wedgwood china…especially with the ivory on blue color combo. But then it also kind of reminds me of fondant icing on a wedding cake, and wallpaper, and lace…well, you get the picture!

These gowns all share this same attention to detail and patterns that reflect this inspiration. It’s all about texture, delicate beading or intricate embroideries. The subtle contrast between lace and skin, beautiful backs, and elaborate sleeves. So many ways to say “I love you!”

I always say, the venue and the gown are the two things that really set the tone for the wedding. From there, the style, mood, and all of the details fall into place. If you choose a gown with delicate detailing, why not make that the story for your décor, your invitations, your cake? Layers of delicious embroidery and lace topped with a touch of spun sugar. Confections for the bride make a delicious indulgence…bon appetite!

New Looks: Claire Pettibone For Wedding Paper Divas | Vol. 2

February 10th, 2014 – Comment

I am thrilled to share a project very dear to my heart…wedding invitations designed exclusively for Wedding Paper Divas! When I create a collection, I envision the entire wedding…the venue, the flowers, the dress…it all comes together to tell a story, and the wedding invitation is the first hint of things to come.

One of nature’s most unique gifts, the butterfly captures the imagination with her kaleidoscope of colors and the symbolism of re-birth and finding true beauty within.

Butterflies naturally come to mind when thinking of a garden wedding. I would love to see this lush suite paired with some of my most romantic gowns.

New Looks: Claire Pettibone for Wedding Paper Divas | Vol. 1

February 6th, 2014 – Comment

Wedding Paper Divas approached me back in April of last year, and asked me to design a collection of wedding invitations. I’m thrilled to finally reveal this project that we have been sketching, painting and scripting over the last 6 months. When looking for inspiration, I often find it in paintings from some of the world’s master artists. What better place to start when composing my first wedding invitation suites for Wedding Paper Divas?!

MB_1Dramatic arrangements of flora and fauna set against a dramatic dark background exude a mysterious romanticism. “Still Life of flowers on a Marble Table” by Rachel Ruysch, displays the brilliance of nature’s beauty.

MB_2

MB_3

Everything I design is so romantic, but sometimes a bit of mystery, a touch of the dark, tempers the sweetness.

LL_1I really wanted to bring the still life painting to life. The bride dressed in delicate lace represents the lily which embodies purity and hope. The colors and elements surrounding her have meaning and symbolism of their own, and together, they tell a beautiful story.

LL_2

LL_3

In the second half of the 17th century, the art of the floral still-life reached the height of fashion. A stunning bouquet of white lilies and pink peonies alongside golden pomegranates – a symbol for prosperity, bring good fortune to our lucky couple.
